I use to exclusively use Slackware, but after being asked to use Ubuntu at work instead of slack I have to say I'm impressed with it. It's easy to use and I eventually got use to Gnome. The only thing I really use my computer for is the general stuff (web surfing, email, etc) and programming (C++ and PHP). I'm not really sure about IDEs for linux as I write all my code using vim, but I hear good things about Zend Studio and eclipse in general. You could also switch to linux ;) . We have spent I would say at leat 30 hours including missing work to fix two computers in our house that have Vista. One is a sony lapton and the other is HP compaq. We bought them the same day and they have the same problems! Internet never works, email, crashes. It is crazy We have 4 computers in our house and the only two with problems are the vista computers.
