DirectorySync is an app that I’ve actually wanted for my own use for a long time. I was tired of having to manually copy my work over to multiple directories, or scheduling back ups. Existing back up software was either too slow and clumsy, or meant uploading my files (often proprietary information) to third-party servers – not exactly ideal.
So I created DirectorySync – simply select your Source Directory (the directory you want to work in) and up to two other destination directories to sync with (such as a networked machine, external hard drive, memory card, home server, etc.) and any changes you make from within the Source Directory will automatically sync with those additional directories each time you save your work.
Aside from the ability to sync-as-you-go, the app gives you the option to make scheduled back ups (as space-saving compressed files) to yet another destination directory. Back ups can be scheduled as often as you wish. Additional settings allow multiple previous back ups to be saved.
DirectorySync is designed to be fast and efficient – from CPU usage to system memory usage and performance. Settings allow you to choose how much system resources will be used so you can fine tune performance based on your own needs.
*** Note
If you like this app and you find it useful, please consider rating it on the app store, this app is more affordable and way more advanced than the similar, more expensive apps on the app store, thanks!
[Update]
To have DirectorySync run in the background like it’s meant to, click on it’s icon on the menu and click on “Preferences…”, then in “General” tab check “Start DirectorySync every time I login”…
